But how long babe, can you search for what's not lost?

This Machine Surrounds Hate and Forces it to Surrender

Ladies and gentlemen, Pete Seeger is no longer with us on planet earth.

But that's not completely true. He lives on in all the great music he left us. Here's to one of folk music's fathers.

Mr. Seeger had this great tv show where he had his friends and contemporaries come on and share songs and share stories. It was called Rainbow Quest. Here's an episode with June Carter and Johnny Cash:

And here's his beautiful banjo:

Inside Llewyn Davis Trailer

I've got a soft spot for this time and place. What it must have been like living in Greenwhich Village back then! I also read somewhere that this story is loosely based on Dave Van Ronk's life which is way cool.

Who wants to see this with me?

Ben Shirley

I've only talked with Ben once, but I've worn his hat a couple times.

If you live in Richmond, you may have seen him busking around Carytown. If you do see him out there (hopefully he's not out in the bitter cold), do yourself a favor and stop and listen for a song or two. I got to hear his voice ring out one night at the Bistro and it was such a gift.

Here's to the humble ones, the ones out there living it.

p.s. Richmonders: Thursday nights at the Bistro. Some of the best music your ears'll ever hear.

New Work - Clay Spokes

Clay Spokes is a band that plays country, folk, and old-fashioned tunes. They also happen to be good dudes and my good friends. This self-titled album contains original songs penned by Son House II and Tyler Longest, and though it isn't available just yet, you can follow the band on facebook for updates and information on future shows. Good local music, yeah yeah!

p.s. I'm also playing a show with the Spokes this Saturday, January 4th, at Carytown Bistro. Stop by and say hi!
