One of John Cage's rules for teachers and students is consider everything an experiment. I think this has particular importance when you confront failure. If you mess something up, there's a good chance that it's not the end of the world. In fact, it probably means that you're doing something right, because at least you're taking chances. I don't know how things will turn out, so I think that it can be healthy to just accept that fact, and act accordingly. It makes things seem a little more exciting!
